Held by the Promises: A Journey Marked by the Ps

Earlier this year, during a two-week trip to France and Switzerland, I found myself unexpectedly overwhelmed by anxiety and apprehension.

Perhaps it was the long stretches of driving. Perhaps it was a deeper awareness of life’s vulnerabilities. Or maybe it was the many warnings I heard about how dangerous Paris could be. Whatever the source, fear felt closer than I expected.

In that place, the Lord gently drew me into prayer. And again and again, I found myself led to the Psalms and to a pattern of remembrance shaped by the letter P.

Protection. Provision. Presence. Peace. Power. Perfect plan. Best pathways. Precious people. Promises.

It was as if the Holy Spirit kept directing my attention back to who God is and how He relates to me. Not distant. Not reactive. But pursuing me with His goodness and His presence.

And true enough, the journey unfolded in ways far beyond my imagination. Grace met us on the roads. Beauty appeared in unexpected places. God felt near. He was everywhere.

Looking back, I see how fear became an invitation to deeper trust. What began with anxiety was slowly transformed into awe.

So this year, my prayer for the people around me is shaped by these same Ps. Not just for the months ahead, but for 2026 and beyond. That we would know ourselves held by His protection, guided by His presence, and carried along His best pathways.

Where might fear be inviting you to notice God’s promises more closely?
