He Restores My Soul: Listening with Dallas Willard

June 23, 2025 — A quiet moment, and the podcast began. Dallas Willard’s The Restoration of the Soul (2003) was the latest release in the series I’ve been following — and it felt like no coincidence.

God knows I’m still struggling within my soul. I felt seen, gently guided again into truth — the kind of truth that doesn’t just inform but transforms. Listening with deep admiration and gratefulness, I found myself breathless at moments.

Dallas speaks of the soul in such clear, simple terms — and yet what he describes is so hard to live. He speaks of training the body, surrendering the will, and how the soul integrates everything to be in harmony with God and reality.

“The soul is the deepest part of the self — the part we cannot directly control.”

That line alone made me pause. I kept sighing through the episode, not from confusion but from a kind of awe. It’s as if he put words to something I’ve only vaguely felt: the ache of misalignment, the quiet longing for wholeness.

He speaks of how the soul interfaces with our feelings, thoughts, and actions. And how, in its restored state, the soul brings congruence — a holy harmony.

Honestly? I can’t fully express what this podcast did to me. I only know that I need to listen again. And again.

If your soul feels weary, fractured, or simply hungry — I invite you to listen with me.
